Slippage

2007

While a photograph may offer a sense of stable memory, Slippage explores the disorienting and strange ways in which memory can be misinterpreted. Drawing on Sigmund Freud's concept of "screen memories"—where visual stimuli trigger distorted recollections—Slippage reconstructs the past through the backs of photographs, the dates, events, and places scribbled there by the artist’s grandfather.
